Vision, Mission & Values
Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, in Kingwood, Texas, is a welcoming and inclusive place where everyone may freely and openly explore the spiritual and religious concerns of their lives. In a growing, vibrant, and increasingly diverse community, we welcome everyone at Good Shepherd, regardless of where they are on their journey of faith – even if they feel they have lost their faith.
Since our founding in 1962, when our parish family was small enough to conduct regular Sunday services in a private home in nearby Humble, we have recognized that we are always on a journey of discovery and transformation focused on knowing, loving, and following Jesus Christ.

Today, with more than 320 families, comprising approximately 750 active parishioners and an annual budget of approximately $1 million, Good Shepherd is one of the largest transitional churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Even so, we retain the same sense of loving community we had more than 60 years ago.

Our Mission

With God’s help and gifts, we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to our community and invite all people into our loving fellowship.

Our Vision

We strive to be a church where all who attend find dynamic, diverse, and meaningful worship experiences…where newcomers find a warm and welcoming spirit, an invitation into the full life of the parish, and opportunities to share their God-given gifts in ministry…where small groups provide opportunities for all to grow in spirit, strengthen their love of God, and establish meaningful personal relationships…and where our commitment to financial responsibility and stewardship enables us to enhance our mission and our values.
